Some situations call for a freshly baked cake. If you have been given the task of baking a cake for a family member or your friend group, you need to know how to do that and how to make the cake turn out.
1. Read Through All of the Instructions Before You Start Baking
You need to know what is ahead of you if you are going to do a good job baking the cake. You should take a minute to read through the list of ingredients needed for the cake and also the instructions that go along with that. Reading through everything in advance will help you keep from missing something once you get to work.
2. Preheat the Oven and Make Sure that It is at the Right Temperature
You need to have the oven hot and ready for your cake once you get the cake mixed up. You should heat the oven as you start to mix the ingredients for your cake. If you have a thermometer that can check your oven temperature, you might use that to make sure that the oven is actually at the temperature that it says it is at.
3. Consider Baking a Large Cake and Cutting It to Layer It
If you want to make a tall layer cake but you do not have enough circular pans, you can bake a large cake and use a cookie cutter or another circular object to cut that cake. You can bake a cake on a sheet pan and then use a circular object of some kind to cut several little “cakes” out of it.
4. Line Your Cake Pan with Parchment Paper
If you want your cake to come out of the pan that you are baking it in, you should not underestimate the power of parchment paper. You should cut a sheet of paper for the bottom of the cake pan and use that so that the cake will not get stuck to the pan and be impossible to get out.
5. Always Follow Directions When Baking a Cake
You are going to be tempted to cut out a step or two when you are working on baking a cake. You may not see the need to add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, little by little. You must trust that those who create the recipe knew what they were doing and that you follow all of the steps shared there so that you will bake a cake that turns out well.
Baking can be fun if you know what you are doing, and you can make a cake that will impress those in your life who will be eating it. Once you have the cake baked and ready to be frosted, think about the design that you want it to have. Know what your plan is before you start to layer, frost, and decorate the cake that you have baked.
